The Sociables ... a social touring groupIf you are looking for a friendly, social touring group where you can relax and take in the scenery while riding, we would like you to come and ride with the Sociables. Cheryl Mathews and Barbara Pontius started the Sociables in 2000. In this group, we all stay together, and leave no one behind The ride distance usually ranges from 15 to 40 miles with speeds averaging approximately 11 mph. The Sociables ride for fun and camaraderie. We like to include a food stop, a scenic ride and/or point of interest if possible. We encourage riders to volunteer to lead a ride occasionally. It could be a favorite route or destination such as a favorite food stop, event, or just for fun. Leading a ride does not necessarily require you to plan a route; it can just mean that you want to get the group together for one of the club rides. Riders are strongly encouraged to wear a helmet and have a bike in good working condition with adequate gearing for hills. Bike shorts are also suggested for personal comfort.
For more information or to volunteer to lead a ride, please contact: Cheryl Mathews, (260) 483-8733 or
