3RVS' 36th Annual Festival Tour was held on July 15th and turned out to be a big success thanks to a number of factors. We had capable friendly volunteers, a good number of riders, and beautiful fall like weather. We had people distributed between four distance options of 22, 47, 66, and 100 miles. The 22 mile route was the most popular. This route was a good fit for families and those just wanting to get out and enjoy the pleasure of a big group ride. Susan Hunt caught at about 6:15am in the Hickory Center School kitchen. She was very busy, a brief pause for this picture, then hard at it again. Susan has been instrumental in getting all the food together for some time. This is probably the most important part of an event like this, and everyone really appreciates the GREAT job Susan does each year. | | | | From left: Luis, Luke and Deb working hard at the early morning registration. I caught them for just a minute. They were hustling hard getting people registered and set up to ride. | Cheryl Matthews, maintaining a "Sociable" environment at SAG 1. No complaints from anyone, just good conversation. | | | SAG support being provided at the bike rack. You have to make sure those tires are full of air you know. | | Michael Sperry and family, all worked the SAG in Churobusco, then all enjoyed the ride. | |
A BIG THANKS to all the volunteers, especially Susan Hunt and the great team from Summit City, David Coar and Ken Lundquist. Be sure to read David's story below. Now that it's over I just wish I had more pictures. Thanks everyone, Corky Miller Festival Story- A Beautiful Day for a Ride by David Coar The annual edition of the Three Rivers Festival Tour was about as nice a day as anyone could hope for. Sunny skies and the low 80’s at the zenith of the day made for excellent riding conditions. Once again we had around 340 riders for the tour, with the vast majority doing either the 24 or 45 mile routes. Those who helped themselves to the longer routes were treated to a persistent low wind and never ending rolling hills. Isn’t it funny how the wind always seems to be in your face when doing the longer distance. Oh yes, that is Murphy’s Law at work. Mucho thanks to all the volunteers that helped with this year’s tour. Special thanks to Susan Hunt for masterminding the food detail once again. It is definitely the most consuming job of any tour and the one thing the riders need the most. It is hard to ride on an empty tummy. Each volunteer should have received a t-shirt. If you did not get yours, please contact David or Ken at 484.0182 and they will make sure you get one. We have had a good time doing the Festival Tour for the past few years. This was our last stab at it and we hope that whoever takes over for the next year or so will find it rewarding as well. Happy trails to ya’ll. David Coar, Ken Lundquist, Ryan Myers Festival Tour Volunteer List Thanks to the following who volunteered their time to help out tour to be a success.
