Touring Director Corky says:

The first official welcome ride was Sunday April 6th from Arcola.  The weather was perfect and we had approximately 70 riders enjoying the day.  If you were unable to attend we still have some map packets left.  Contact me or Kathy Boling to find out how you can get one.  Otherwise just print them from the club website in the member’s area.

On Saturday 5/17 we will have a Special Welcome Ride.  If you like riding with a group but 15-16 MPH is a little too fast; try joining Phil and his Fat Tired friends for a nice ride at 12-14 MPH.  This will be the perfect opportunity to come out and show there is demand for rides at this pace.  Bring your friends too.

Here are a couple of additional dates for your calendars:

5/18/2008    May Madness Tour

7/13/2008    Three Rivers Festival Tour

Hope to see you on a touring ride.

Touring Ride Leaders for 2008
The Touring Director would like to solicit members interested in trying something new on slow/moderate paced rides. The idea is to be creative and have some fun with those who wish to enjoy a more relaxed touring ride through our beautiful countryside. If you are interested all you need to do is email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it at least 30 days prior to the ride the following information:

1. Your name and name of any partners
2. Desired average speed (below 16 MPH)
3. Date
4. Creative name for the ride
5. Any information about SAG stops, breakfast, lunch, or whatever

When submitting requests between 30 and 60 days ahead of time the start location and route will be pre-determined by the Touring Director. In 2008 moderate paced rides will be planned for the 1st Sunday and 3rd Saturday each month. The Saturday/Sunday options are being provided to allow opportunity for people with conflicts on opposite days.

If you would like to propose a new route, start time, or start location you will need to submit your request at least 60 days prior to the ride to allow time to update the schedule on the website and in the newsletter.

The Touring Director will assist the ride leader with holding the group together (unless unavailable). We will ask that riders who desire to ride a faster pace start 5-10 minutes early so they will not be tempted to pull the group any faster than the posted speed for the ride. The group will not drop anyone capable of the posted speed. If you have interest please submit your requests as early as possible to help with communications about the ride.
