Weeknight Rides

Monday Evenings

Franke Park MTB

Time:  6:30 p.m.

Location: Franke Park

Route: Both beginning and experienced riders are welcome.  When sufficiently dry we ride the trails.  When not, the pavement option is urban exploring. Meet at the trailhead parking lot at 6:30 PM. Monday rides continue throughout the year.


Tuesday Evenings

Kreager Ride -  Rides start April 30.

Time:  6:00 p.m.

Ride leader: Chuck Bash

Location: Kreager Park on North River Road, east of Maplecrest Road. Meet at the main parking lot, on the west side, near the tennis courts.

Route:  This tour is designed for leisure, enjoying the scenery and a little exercise at a 13 to 15 MPH pace. This will be an out-and-back ride, on the New Haven River Greenway and county roads (all paved) east of New Haven or to Grabill and back. Distance will be 20 to 25 miles.

Pace: 13 - 15 mph

Route:  Road racing, time trials, criteriums.

Carroll High School Ride -  Rides start April 16.

Time: 6:00 PM

Ride Leader: Hugh Smith
 
Location: Carroll High School, 3701 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana (north parking lot).
 
Route: This is an 19 - 20 mph pace ride on low traveled county roads winding through Churubusco, then north to the county line and back to Carroll High School. The route is about 28 miles. There is also a 5-mile extension many riders use when daylight becomes longer in the summer. 

Wednesday Evenings

Saturn Ride -  Rides start April 10.

Time:  6:00 p.m.

Ride Leader: Patrick Stelte

Location: Saturn Church, 6731 East 800 South  (in Whitley County, about 1 mile West of Aboite Center and County Line Road).

Route:  The routes go to either Roanoke or Columbia City and will be the same as last year. The group decides on which route to take on the night of the ride. Fast fitness speeds, pace 20+.

Fast fitness speeds. There may also be a second group that rides at a slower pace that generally stays together for the entire ride.


Kreager Park Tour -  Rides start May 1.

Time:  6:00 p.m.

Ride leader: Kathi Heyes and a supporting cast

Location: Kreager Park on North River Road, east of Maplecrest Road. Meet at the main parking lot, on the west side, near the tennis courts.

Route:  This tour is designed for leisure, enjoying the scenery and a little exercise at a 10 - 13 MPH pace. This will be an out-and-back ride, on the New Haven River Greenway and county roads (all paved) east of New Haven or to Grabill and back. Distance will be up to 20 miles

Pace: 10 - 13 mph


Thursday Evenings

Girls Ride Out - Rides start April 11.

Time:  6:00 p.m.

Ride leader: Kathy Boling

Location: St. Pat's Church, 12305 Arcola Road, Arcola, IN

LADIES ONLY PLEASE! This moderately-paced ride is to get more women out on bicycles. The plan is to ride at a pace that allows us to keep the group togehter, help new riders to become familiar with riding with others, and to finish with wanting more. Please arrive early as we will roll out at 6pm.

Distance: ~25 miles

Carroll High School Ride - Rides start April 17.

Time: 6:00 PM

Ride Leader: Hugh Smith

Location: Carroll High School, 3701 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne, Indiana (north parking lot).
 
Route: The pace will probably not be as frantic as Tuesday nights. Plan at first to ride out from Carroll through Huntertown to Gump and Auburn Roads then coming back on Cedar Canyon Road to get a few hills. Distance is 25 - 30 miles
 
Pace: 18 - 19 mph

Second Friday Evening of each month

Courteous Mass Ride - Rides are year round

Time:  6:30 p.m.

Ride leaders: P. J. Thuringer and Vince Serrani

Location: Lawton Park by the softball fields

Route: This ride will be on paved roads throughout Fort Wayne, and will cover approximately 8 to 10 miles. The ride will emphasize being a part of city traffic, showing automobile drivers that cyclists care about being responsible in traffic. This is a year-around monthly event.Pace:  Average speed between 12 - 15 mph.
