MEETING MINUTES
October 4, 2018

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order 7:30 PM by Patrick. Officers present included Patrick Stelte, Johnny Grabowski, Dave McComb, Pamela Fennell, Amy Copeland, and Scott Tomsits. Introductions and welcome extended to all in attendance including Jack Campbell, Mona Will, Kent Ellis, Jennifer Altherr, Shane Powell, Phil Snider, Charles Copeland, and Brad Smith.

September minutes passed earlier in the meeting.

Patrick Stelte, President
- 2019 Festival Tour committee update: Tour will be on Sunday, July 14, 2019 and will start at the Sweetwater Performance Pavilion, with SAG at Morsches Park in Columbia City. The ride will be a Bicycle Indiana funding ride. Registration will open no later than January 1.
- Franke Park trailhead plaque honoring Phil Snider in need of replacement. $320 estimate for stainless steel replacement plaque was discussed and approved. Brad Smith will oversee the project.
- There will be a 40th Anniversary showing of the film Breaking Away at the Embassy Theatre. The Embassy contacted Patrick, offering a private room for the club to have a social gathering prior to the movie, with a cost of $650 (just the room, no extras, not even movie tickets). Discussed and declined by those in attendance, but agreed that the club should promote the movie as a fun, off-season social gathering.
- Dan Watts RIP:  members discussed what would be an appropriate way to express the club’s sympathy to longtime club member and ride leader Deb Watts.
- With Annual Awards Banquet (a.k.a. year-end party) to be held in January, there will be a December Club Meeting. Officer nominations will be opened in December with elections taking place at the January Club Meeting.

Expenditures include liability insurance, Bike League annual membership, supplies for Ice Cream Ride, Supplies for Labor Day Century Ride, donation for use of building for Century Ride, website annual hosting fee.  Revenues include jersey sales.

Steve Pequignot, Touring (not present, report submitted)
- October Weekend Tours begin at 11:00 am
- Show ’n’ Go rides begin in November
- President’s Tour will take place Sunday, October 21. Route will be Homestead High School to Huntington
- September Touring Challenge wrap-up:  92 members participated totaling 68,032 kilometers ridden. Podium winners:  Women - 1. Kymberly Byers; 2. Denise Snyder; 3. Susan Zuber; Men – 1. Mark Linn; 2. Jim Snyder; 3. Marty Smolinski.  50 riders won distance medals.
- Skills Tour wrap-up:  4th year of tour:  41 riders won “A” wings (20 mph average)
- Weekend Touring: end of season is October 28
- Scott Tomsits will organize 3RVS Zwift touring rides during the winter months, details soon

Dave McComb, Racing
- New cyclocross partnership format with Team Neighborlink is working, with good attendance.
- Race team had tremendous success for the year.  Racing results have been posted to the 3RVS Racing Facebook page
- Dave mentioned the need for new tents with club name and logo.

Randy Rozewicz, Off-Road (not present, report submitted)
- Fort Wayne Parks Department has scheduled a meeting to discuss the Franke Park master plan on Ocotber 11th. Key stakeholders invited, including 3RVS representatives
- Updated Franke trails map sent to parks dept.  MOU yet to be approved by parks’ legal.
- The Epic Brown County will take place October 12-14
- Trails are in good shape and Monday night rides are ongoing
- Randy is working on an estimate for repairing the shed that holds off-road equipment

Publicity, Pamela Fennell
Pamela is still working on having Anthony Barr of the PBS Show “The Mobile Cyclist” include 3RVS when he comes to Fort Wayne

- October Newsletter was sent out, thank you to all who contributed
- 50th Anniversary store opened with options for winter wear

- Jersey Ride Wrap Up - 63 riders, 3 volunteers, 4 just to eat: $232.31 cost of food,
$50 in donations collected
- Monday Morning Meanderings & Musings wrap-up - 2nd year had up to 15 riders at one ride. Mona thanked all who have helped this year.
- “Winter Woolies” proposal - short, casual rides similar to Monday Morning Meanderings & Musings proposed to continue through the winter months, with location, distance options, time and day of week to be determined

Steve Pequignot, Touring
- Steve thanked Phil Snider and Deb Watts for organizing the Labor Day Century Tour.  Donations from the event totaled $148.  Phil took $45 from the donations to pay for painting Dan Henry’s on the course.  Deb was reimbursed for food purchase at $94.66.  Club members present voted to donate an additional $100 to the St. Joe Church of Christ, making a total of $203 in donations to the church.
- September weekend tours begin at 10am
- October weekend tours begin at 11am
- Triple Century Tour Stats:  Saturday - 26 riders; Sunday - 20 riders; Monday - 36 riders.  6 riders completed all three century tours:  Luis Devyra, Lisa Mabitt, Marty Smolinski, Steve Pequignot, Marg Geiger and Patrick Stelte
- September Touring Challenge update:  71 riders have logged miles through 9/5.

- Cyclocross agreement between Team Neighborlink and 3RVS to share weekly Franke Park practice night was negotiated between Dave, Patrick and Andrew Hoffman of Neighborlink.  Both organizations will share in the duties of hosting the events and share in the proceeds.

- Updated PDF map of Franke Trails for Franke Park MOU (Patrick forwarded doc. to Parks)
- Rainy August affected trials
- Trail equipment storage is now being stored in BMX old concession building

- Club “Tech” shirt proposal:  A club member suggested a casual club member shirt to wear away from the bike.  A committee led by Jennifer Altherr will design and seek out a vendor.  The shirt will be offered by the club’s annual party in January.
-  Anne Ellis suggested the club promote CIBA membership and contribution to organization.

- 2019 Festival Tour committee met on Sunday, July 30 and have committed to setting a date, course layout and fee recommendation by December of 2018 for promotion beginning in January

August Revenues for Festival Tour registrations, dues and clothing. Expenditures included Festival Tour expenses, annual PO Box rental, and Jersey Ride park pavilion rental.

Steve Pequignot, Touring
- Friday, August 17 “Twilight” greenway ride with ice cream rest stop to begin at Swinney Park at 7:30, going to Tillman park. Approximately 12.5 miles, riders should make sure to have lights.
- Sunday, August 19th - Jammin’ in Roanoke charity ride will be designated weekend tour for that day. 3RVS members entitled to a $5 registration discount. New 100 mile option this year. Start / Stop at Joseph Decuis Farm. GPX route files to be distributed to 3RVS members.
- September Touring Challenge to be held again this year. Rides will have to be recorded on Strava. Awards for 500km, 750km, 1000km, and 1610km/1000 miles. Podium awards for top 3 Women and top 3 Men
- All 3 days of Labor Day Weekend will feature the option of a 100-mile Century ride (Triple Century)
- Weekend Tours as of September 8 will have a 10am start time (August 9am start times will continue through Labor Day weekend).

June 7, 2018

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order 7:30PM by Patrick. Officers present included Patrick Stelte, Steve Pequignot, Dave McComb, Pamela Fennell, Amy Copeland Randy Rozewicz and Scott Tomsits. Not present was Hugh Smith and John Grabowski. - Franke Park plaque:  Brad Smith recommended that the club replace the recognition plaque at Franke Park for Phil Snider.  The current plaque is deteriorating.  Brad will spec. out the cost of a new, more robust material for replacement
- Kidstravaganza:  A request to volunteer to help the fitting of bike helmets for kids on June 23rd between 9am and noon was accepted by Shane Powell.  Another person is needed.
- Allen County Fair, July 24th:  A request to make a presentation on bike safety by Fair organizers.  Patrick will contact available club members to volunteer.

Hugh Smith, Treasurer
No Report – due a last minute conflict, Hugh was unable to attend the meeting.

Steve Pequignot, Touring
- July weekend touring start time will be 9am
- New co-ride leaders announced:  Scott Tomsits for Thursday “A” Kreager Ride and Luis DeVeyra for weekend “C” and “D” pace
- Festival Tour brochure handed out and proofed for printing. 

Dave McComb, Racing
- Morches Park CX race in fall – date & time TBD
- Race Schedule continues with monthly MTB Time Trial, Baer Field Time Trial, and Road Time Trials.  All race information on 3RVS website
- Kaitlin Skidd announced as off-road race practice ride leader
- Possible loan of Adams County Bicycle Club timing system for use at 3RVS time trials
- Discussion of future tent space allocation at Fat & Skinny Tirefest at Winona Lake


Randy Rozewicz, Off-Road
- Franke Rides Mondays and Wednesdays at 6:30pm
- Franke Trail maintenance 2nd Saturday of the month from 9am to 11am
- Urban Rides every Thursday at 6pm

May 3, 2018

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order 7:30PM by Patrick. Officers present included Hugh Smith, Steve Pequignot, Dave McComb, Pamela Fennell, Amy Copeland, Scott Tomsits, John Grabowski and Patrick Stelte. Passage of April meeting minutes.

3. Final Vote for Constitution By-Law Amendment 1.7 for Intellectual Property
By-Law language re-read by Patrick and, following open discussion, motion to add to club constitution passed by vote.

4. Jammin’ in Roanoke Presentation by Doug Wintin
3RVS supported last year’s inaugural Jammin’ in Roanoke ride held by Spokesmen Cycling. This year the ride will take place in August (date to be determined) with after ride meal provide by Joseph Decius Farm. The organizers requested that 3RVS make it an official club ride and promote via the 3RVS website and Facebook page. The topic was discussed and passed by vote.

Patrick spoke to Fire Police City County Federal Credit Union regarding their Kidstravaganza event, where they were hoping to get assistance from 3RVS members to fit 300 kid helmets to be given away on the day of the event - Saturday, June 23rd from 9am to noon.

Revenues included memberships, and clothing.  Expenditures included: Fort Wayne Trails annual sponsorship, Cyclofemme sponsorship, clothing, and Festival Tour expenses.

- RMHC Charity Ride was a success with 250 riders and no SAG services rendered.
- May Weekend Tours will have starting time of 11am.
- Fort 4 Fitness Ride to take place May 19 (official club ride that day)

MEETING MINUTES
April 5, 2018

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order 7:30PM by Patrick. Officers present included Scott Tomsits, Steve Pequignot, Mona Will, Hugh Smith, Randy Rozewicz and John Grabowski - absent:  Dave McComb, Amy Copeland and Mike Heyes. Introductions and welcome extended to all in attendance including Jack Campbell, Kent Ellis, Phil Snider, Jennifer Smith, Shane Powell, Pamela Fennell, Angie Quinn, Jade Kelsey, and new members David Dwight and Rob Brower.

2. Passage of Minutes
Passage of March meeting minutes.

3. Election of Publicity Officer
Available publicity officer position following Mona Will’s resignation was posted in last month’s newsletter per club constitution guidelines. Pamela Fennell was the only club member to express interest and was appointed to the position. All meeting attendees voted in favor.

4. Trek the Trails Sponsorship Presentation - Angie Quinn
Over the last several years, 3RVS has donated to Trek the Trails to support this community cycling organization.  Angie rides Trek the Trails and also rides with 3RVS. Last year she led others in riding an extra Trek the Trails lap. She requested support again this year, with hopes that some would progress to riding in other 3RVS activities.  Motion was passed at sponsorship level of $750.

5. Cyclofemme Request - Jade Kelsey
3rd annual Cyclofemme ride by Bicycle Friendly Fort Wayne to be held Mother’s Day May 13 at Rock Hill Park at 2pm. The ride is free and open to general public, and promotes increasing female cycling ridership.  Jade and co-sponsor Mona Will requested Ride Ambassadors, water jugs, route assistance and $100 sponsorship.  Motion was passed with agreement that 3RVS will be promoted and 3RVS donation jar will be present at the event.

Patrick was informed that the 3RVS storage locker at All-State Storage had minor water damage. At the time of the meeting - he was in the process of getting that taken care of.  Post meeting update:  The storage locker has been inspected and repaired. No material damage was observed.

Hugh Smith, Treasurer
Balance as of March 28th:  Revenues included memberships, clothing and race sponsorships; Expenditure included Bike League annual dues. 

Steve Pequignot, Touring
2018 Touring Season kickoff on Sunday April 8 at Woodlan High School at 11:45am

Fort Wayne Journal Gazette article including Jade Kelsey and Patrick Stelte about transportation infrastructure regarding cycling.

Randy Rozewicz, Off-Road
 - NITRO was dissolved March 31st following IMBA business plan changes that required a large monetary fee for membership.  Randy requested that 3RVS become the institutional entity over-seeing off-road interests in the area.  Motion to re-establish 3RVS relationship with Parks Department to maintain Franke trails was passed.
- Off-road ride season starts April 9th (weather permitting)
- Rides & Ride Leaders: Franke Park Mondays & Wednesdays @ 6:30pm (Randy, Rich Swihart, Diana DeCarranza, Martin DeCarranza and Phil Snider ride leaders); Destination Rides:  Brown County, Winona Lake, Mourches Park, Fort Custer, The Dump (ride leaders Amy Copeland, Jennifer Smith and Deb Watts)
- Urban Exploring:  Thursdays at 6pm (ride leaders Phil Snider, Rich Swihart, Randy Rozewicz, Brad Smith and Amy Copeland)
- Off-Road awards to be presented at annual club party include:  most miles, most flat tires with picture and bent wheel spirit award
- Trail maintenance will be the second Saturday of each month from 9am to 11am

- Complaint of spam e-mails to club officers.  Mike added CAPTCHA for manual text box entry and this cleared up spam
- Joomla update to website:  version 3.8.6
- Online membership delivery problem was fixed by changing website e-mail server client
- Touring and President’s Reports updated to website

* Festival Tour Update
- Kent and Anne Ellis will help Phil Snider with routes
- There will be no t-shirts sold this year, but next year an on-site designer/printer t-shirt is being researched
- Hickory M.S. and Churubusco parking pavilion is reserved.  The Busco SAG will be at the new pavilion
- The Festival Tour secured official status as an event of the Three Rivers Festival

* Preliminary research on potential acquisition of new Timing System
- Scott Tomsits is researching a cost effective timing device for club purchase to be used at club race events.  This will include some form of chip and attached device per rider.
