Latest News / Greenway Update 9-13-2013
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:15:00 PM »
This from the Parks Department:

"Beginning Monday, September 16th the Maumee Pathway,
between Pemberton Drive and the North River Road Trailhead, will be
closed 6:30 am – 2: 30 pm, Monday – Friday. Several sections of this
4-mile trail are being resurfaced. The gates on each end of the work area will
be closed in the morning while resurfacing is taking place and will be
reopened in the afternoon. There is no detour for this section of trail, so
please plan to avoid this area while the gates are closed.

Due to recent prep work for the resurfacing, the Maumee Pathway is rough in some
locations.  Please use caution when utilizing the trail during the weekend of September
14-15. Weather permitting, resurfacing work on this area is expected to be complete Friday,
September 20."

Latest News / Downtown Street Closure
« on: September 12, 2013, 06:05:34 PM »
For those of you that ride through downtown, here is a press release from Public Works about street closings for sewer work:

"Beginning Monday, September 16, the two west lanes on Ewing Street will be closed from Washington Boulevard to Main Street. These lane restrictions will run through the intersection of Berry Street, closing Berry between Ewing and Fairfield Avenue. The east curbed lane on Ewing will remain open. These restrictions are expected to last about two weeks. Pearl Street will also be closed to through traffic between Ewing and Fairfield for about two weeks.

Throughout the eight month construction period, several lane restrictions and closings will occur in the downtown area."

Latest News / Greenway paving update 9-10-2013
« on: September 11, 2013, 03:09:54 PM »
I received a message this week from Amy Hartzog from the City that parts of the Maumee path between Pemberton Dr. and the trailhead on N. River Rd. will be getting some fresh paving.  Here is a quote, "The Street Dept. will start doing some prep work on the trail over the next week or two and then they will start resurfacing it.  Hopefully, this means it should be resurfaced before the end of the month.  We should have about 2 miles of trail resurfaced!"

Usual website business, including:
• upload newsletter, revise listing page
• add touring and mtb schedules
• updated president's message
• update Steve's touring director report
• no racing schedule received, none published
• un-publish 3RVS Facebook fan page. Not the group page. Eliminates people joining here instead of the group page
• Update the weeknight ride descriptions with information from S. Pequinot
• update general touring description on the touring info page
• re-structure and clarify the left side main menu listings
• remove sho'n go schedule from menu listings
• remove Race Results page. Last information received and published was on June 15, 2012. Will be glad to add any information that is shared about racing or club TT's.
• add monthly meeting minutes listing to the Member Only section. Treasurer report listed in minutes as having occurred, but info is listed as REDACTED, per officer's decision
• revised mobile menu for smartphones, adding the weeknight ride information
• upgrade website software from rev. 2.5.9 to 2.5.10
• several days later, upgrade website software from 2.5.10 to 2.5.11
• there is a MAJOR upgrade to the website software, changing from 2.5.* to 3.0.*. I will not be making this upgrade until after this year's riding season is done. This change will probably require changes to the database, probably requiring manual moving all the data on the site. In addition it is certain that the template used for the overall look and feel of the website will need to be changed. In the past, these changes have taken between 40 – 60 hours of my time to complete. I fully expect that it will require this much time for this change.
• upgrade Forum software from rev 2.0.3 to 2.0.4
• FYI – after investigating reports that no one uses the Forum, I counted the number of views to the News and the Touring sections of the Forum (only those). In 2012, there were 8,018 views of 24 topics in the News section, and 13,177 views of 33 topics posted in the Touring section. As of last week, in 2013, there were 982 views of 13 topics in News, and 797 views of 11 topics in Touring. Total for 2012: +21,000 views of 57 topics in the News and Touring section of the Forum. Even if you throw out 75% of these as erroneous, there were over 5,000 views of those two sections. Seems very active to me.
• Changed the May Madness email confirmation address from Kathy Boling to Jane Lewendowski. This is the address where registrant information is sent once they register.
• I will submit a spreadsheet of the pre-registrations from Active.com for May Madness on May 17 to Jane to help with her registration.
• *Patrick thanks Mike for his continued and ongoing effort with the club website.

*Additional Items of Interest.
--May Madness is ready as reported by Kathy. Volunteers are always welcome.
--Fort 4 Fitness, the club made a donation for the race volunteer tent. (An area for volunteers to rest and refresh between races.)
Ambassadors are still needed for the F-4-F tour. Must wear your yellow club jersey.

Touring and presentation by Steve
--Huntington challenge. Steve presented a proposal for the club’s involvement in the challenge. Steve along with other club members presented the finer points of this event and the manner at which brought 3RVS members together at last year’s event.

Steve’s presentation included three proposals:
1. Too once again cover the (insurance) sponsorship of the Huntington Challenge.
An in depth discussion including past meetings decisions on the subject were resolved.
Steve made a motion for the club to continue support of the challenge with Donna second. Motion passed. Earnie will investigate how the club can assist with the event.
2. To support the touring (insurance) sponsorship of the Huntington Challenge event. After discussion on the many aspects of this event the officers decided to include this portion with the 1st part. (Club voted to sponsor both the “Challenge and Tour”.)
3. For the club to support up to 4 - 6 member teams to compete in the challenge. The teams would train and be selected by a panel chosen by club officers and directed by the touring division of the club. Teams could include an all-female team.
The 3rd item too was discussed in depth. This part was tabled for further discussion at the June 2013 meeting.

* Adjournment 9:00 PM
