This ride will focus on developing group riding skills, i.e., hand signs, various types of drafting, single pace-line, dual pace-line, echelon, "wagon wheel" rotation ( ie. rotating paceline ), hiding in the peloton, utilizing the most efficient draft for the conditions and the group.

Check the club's Facebook page for cancellations. All riders must wear helmets. It is recommended that all riders use a red flashing blinker light on this ride.

Gene,
Sorry no one replied to you on this. I just saw it this morning. If you look on the top of any page on the website you'll see a tab called Facebook. If you click on that link, it will take you to the club's Facebook page.

You need to have an account with Facebook to see our page. It's free, as in beer, though Facebook will collect an unbelievable amount of information about you. Most people don't seem to mind. I have had an account for several years myself. I don't like what they collect, but the service is useful to me to keep in touch with friends and family that are not in this area.

Most of the discussions have moved from this Forum to Facebook, for better or worse.

If you have any questions, shoot me an email: webmaster at 3rvs dot com

Latest News / throwback thursday on the forum

Throwback Thursday. Back in 2005 or so, Earnie Williamson road from coast to coast and documented the trip for us. The first page is the itinerary, click on the Roadside Reports link at the top for each week's reports. The pages are exactly as they appeared in 2005. Enjoy!

I spoke with David Park.  He said he couldn't get logged in, but he also uses the forum to keep up with news.  He is off the grid and doesn't access Facebook or other media.

I haven't heard from David Park, but you need to register to login to the Forum. You just click on the "register" link at the top left of the page and then complete the registration process. We don't sell your data cor compromise your privacy like Facebook.

If he has any problems with the process, let me know at webmaster at 3rvs.com.

My favorite in the latest marketing crap: Strava. Like the vid said, if your ride isn't on Strava it didn't happen.

Latest News / Barb Pontius
« on: December 03, 2013, 10:31:50 PM »
Barbara Pontius, long-time 3RVS member, passed away on Friday, November 29.  Barb was passionate about bicycle touring and took part in many club rides including May Madness and Festival tours.  She also loved camping and combined camping and bicycling on favorite Michigan tours, PALM, MUP, and Blue Water Ramble.  In Indiana, she participated in many Amishland & Lakes tours, and Blueberry Festival rides.

Barb and I were fans of social touring rides and started The Sociables group within 3RVS, for destination rides at a leisurely pace.  From 2000-2004, we enjoyed scouting out new routes together, and trying out suitable restaurants for breakfast and lunch rides.  We included festivals in Sociables rides when possible, biking to the Grabill Country Fair, and Auburn Cord Duesenberg parade.

Barb put her mechanical skills to good use in troubleshooting and repairing her own bike.  She was always ready for adventure, travel, and the open road.  She will be missed.  - Cheryl Mathews
