Touring / Tuesday May 26 Carroll Ride

I won't be able to make it to lead the Carroll ride on Tuesday, May 26 because of a conflict with a school program.  If someone else is willing to take the lead that night, please let me (treasurer@3rvs.com) or Steve Pequignot (touring@3rvs.com) know and we will get it posted.

Touring / Thursday May 7, 2015 Carroll Ride

Although a ride from Carroll is not usually scheduled on the first Thursday of the month because of the Club meeting, David Park will be riding from Carroll High School tonight if anyone is interested in joining him.  Departure will be from the north parking lot between the high school and freshman academy at 6:00 pm.

Because of a schedule conflict, there will not be an official ride from Carroll High School this coming Tuesday, April 21.

Touring / Tuesday/Thursday Carroll Rides

Because of a general lack of interest from new riders and the fact that the regular attendees for the Tuesday and Thursday night rides are near top form by now, the Tuesday and Thursday night Carroll High School rides through August and September will be used as training rides for anyone looking to participate in the Huntington Challenge in late September.  The pace of both rides will be from the low to mid 20s mph depending on who shows, and both rides will include work on close riding in a paceline.  Anyone is still welcome to attend the rides, but be prepared for a very hard pace.

I spoke with David Park.  He said he couldn't get logged in, but he also uses the forum to keep up with news.  He is off the grid and doesn't access Facebook or other media.

Touring / Thursday Night Carroll Ride - May 22, 2014

There won't be a formal ride from Carroll High School on Thursday, May 22, as I will be out of town that evening.  Weather permitting, the rides will resume again the week of the 26th other than on Club Meeting nights the first Thursday of each month.

Touring / Tuesday/Thursday Carroll Rides

I plan on continuing the Tuesday and Thursday night rides from Carroll through October, but I will have to shorten the distance as the days get shorter.  I will also be leaving the parking lot at six o'clock instead of having a 5 to 10 minute grace period so that I can finish with enough light to be safe.  If you are coming and running a little late send me a message at 312-2478 and I will look for you.

I am scheduled to be out of town the week of July 16, so I won't be able to lead any rides from Carroll High School on the 17th or the 19th.  I should be back on schedule after that.

I had a similar encounter several years ago north of Churubusco.  The bird came down and pecked at my helmet and flapped around my head.  My helmet is the old US Postal design and I figured it was just another Lance hater.

I will be out of town Thursday May 24 so will not be able to lead a ride that night.  I should be back by next Tuesday for rides out of Carroll High School on the 29th and 31st.

Touring / Tuesday/Thursday Carroll High School Rides

Since the weather has been so agreeable and daylight savings is in effect, I plan on riding the Tuesday and Thursday rides from Carroll High School beginning this week.  I rode last week and was able to finish with plenty of daylight left to get home safely.  If anyone is interested in going along, I would welcome the company.  I will leave the north parking lot between 6:00 and 6:05.

For those who like to watch, NBC Sports (old Versus) has announced live coverage of Tour of Flanders on April 1 and Paris Roubaix on April 8.  Tour of Flanders coverage begins at 8:30 am and Paris Roubaix begins at 9:00 am.  Check the link below to see announcement on Bicycling.com.

Touring / Carroll Rides, August 30 and September 1

I have to be out of town this week Tuesday (8/30) and feel like I need to give my hand a little time to heal, so I won't be able to lead any rides from Carroll High School on Tuesday and Thursday (8/30 and 9/1).  I hope to be back on the road next week.
