Old Fort Wayne road just got chip 'n sealed.  A lot of tar, stones, LOOSE GRAVEL sign is even present.  From 900N to at least 650N.  right now it is a mess.    Friday, Aug 30.

Not your fault Joe but +1 to Bill's request.  Now they say warmer than normal beginning mid-April.  Jet stream is changing...Pacific warmth coming.  I AM READY!

20 is about 20 short of my minimum temp.

Hey Mike.  Weather was good for the Angola ride, mostly cloudy but most of the time just high clouds, some filtered sunshine.  Last 12 miles or so of the 64 mile route was into the wind and hilly, not so much fun.  Pretty lame food at the SAGS I have to say.  Lots of volunteers at major road crossings were helpful.

So what is the deal with insurance on a club ride?  If (when) someone gets dropped and they (me) miss a turn and are off the route map for a few miles...no insurance?  What if I get separated from the group and I have an old map?  Lot of different scenarios that cause me to deviate off that days' map.  I was on a club ride this year and early in the route the entire group deviated from the map I got that day.  Upon returning home I compared to some of my old maps, yep we just rode a 2 or 3 mile segment of the "old" map.  Happened again last weekend on the ride to Ashley, 3 riders (me) turned right following the map as the "pack" just kept going north.  Yelled out..."Right turn!" to no avail.  We three then had to hammer to catch up to the pack.

Seems like this will rear it's ugly head and become an issue at some point.   Sucks that so many things are driven by "legal ramifications" and not common sense.

Chris

I am interested in riding from Wayne HS.  Wednesdays will work for me the best but I am somewhat flexible.  Note...I don't ride on wet roads, when it's raining or threatening to rain.  I am kinda wimpy in that regard.

Since you seem to ride this area semi-frequently, please keep us up to date via this forum regarding this ongoing problem.  Even if it is just a heads up that all is clear.

Hopefully, the dogs' owner is responsible and will take care of the problem, although I have my doubts.  If they were responsible this trouble would not be present in the first place.

Thank you for reporting this incident to the proper authority.  It helps all of us who are put at risk by this dangereous situation.

Ride safe.

+1

Last night's paper reported 2 dogs mauled an 11 year old and the man that came to his rescue here in Fort Wayne.  That was after the dogs attacked an elderly woman nearby.  FWPD shot and killed one dog and according to the article, "dispatched" the other after having to chase it down.

I do not comprehend comments I read on numerous bicycle forums saying "it's the owners fault, not the dogs."  Well in this case the owner is unknown and those two dogs will not attack anybody else...EVER.

That'd be cool if everyone was normal....believe me that is not the case.    I've seen dog owners standing on their porch watching "man's best friend" tear after bicyclists and joggers.  There are some real "crackers" living out in the country, especially in Huntington Co.  I'm not trusting some excited, nasty, bike hating dog not to bite me while I stroll up to a house in the middle of nowhere flying the "Stars and Bars".   My word against the homeowners' while I'm standing on HIS property?  I think I'll pass on that scenario.

If someone is breaking the law, let law enforcement handle it.  This ain't 1960 anymore.
