Club Meeting Minutes for May 1, 2014

Meeting called to order and welcome of guests and members 7:30 PM.
-Started meeting with introduction of officers and new members present. Patrick shared 3RVS vision statement. Kathy gave a brief history of the club. Steve and Phil gave a quick guide of different rides and groups offered by the club.
Patrick welcomed honored guest and re-registered member Hector Garcia. Mr. Garcia, one of the founding members, shared history and stories of the club during the first years. Mr. Garcia is looking forward to upcoming rides and events hosted by the club.

-Reading of the minutes for meeting of April 3, 2014. Kathy added a correction to the racing calendar. With corrections noted Wendy made a motion to approve minutes, Patrick seconded motion carried.

-Treasurers report by Patrick.  Entries to the account were explained with income and debits.   Hugh confirmed balance of jerseys (-)$1783.90,  jersey bins  (-)$130.00 and Franke Project +$1090.41.  Patrick met with PNC Bank to add Hugh to 3RVS account.  In regards to new banking regulations, PNC switched the account from personal to non-profit.  The new account was opened on Friday, April 18th with all funds transferred.  New checks were ordered and Hugh Smith is now officially Finance Officer.

-Touring report by Steve. April recap Steve reported 4 injuries the past month. The causes of falls were 2 from poor road conditions, one due to dog chase, and one due to rider error (sudden stop) collision. Steve recapped proper draft procedure for rider safety. May welcome ride is the 4th. May weekend start times will be 11:00 am. With Fort 4 Fitness time 9:30 am.  He explained the different ride groups for new members including S.L.O.W.E.R. group, B’s group and the faster pace riders.  Steve advise attendees to check the web site for a full listing of rides.
Steve suggested reorganizing the club funding rides by adding a ride to make up for May Madness.  Considered were dates, type of rides, and where to tour.  The idea will be reconsidered at a later date as this year’s calendar is full.
Steve recapped the Ronald McDonald House ride.  Initial reports are the ride was a success and enjoyed by.  Steve has 2 volunteers to help with the weekend rides when he is not there.  Club members Jim Reilly and Rick Bokern have stepped forward to assist.  He asked for funds for map printing supplies for the volunteers.  Patrick agreed to the expense and approved purchase of supplies.

-Off road report by Phil. Phil provided information about the Subaru Trail Care Crew event and its success. Phil also shared information about a Trek representative checking the Franke trails on behalf of NITRO and IMBA. The visit was a fact finding visit. Work/ride days continue with the trail. Phil too shared with new members off road offerings.

 -Newsletter report by Kathy. She discussed the new format of information flow from the newsletter to the website. Kathy thanked everyone for submitting articles before the 18th of each month. Kathy also thanked Mike Heyes for his continued support and help in having the same info on the website and in the newsletter.

-Membership reported by Patrick. Totals include 116 families and 125 individual for a total of 241.

-Publicity report by Wendy. New and improved brochures have been printed and passed out to shops. These will also be included in the packet handout with Fort 4 Fitness Spring Cycle Fest.

-Racing report by Kathy. Time trial practice will be May 8th at Bescanson Church. Colavita Time Trial race will be May 18th starting at Woodlan High School with the ride on old US24. Tuesday night race rides continue.

-Web site updates reported by Mike and shared by Patrick.

-Additional item of interest. Patrick reported Fort 4 Fitness has reduced entry fee to $20.00. Need volunteers to be ambassadors, sag drivers and route marking.  Plans are coming together for another great ride.

Meeting adjourned 8:55 pm.

-After the meeting. Teresa of Ronald McDonald House reports the bicycle ride raised over $23,000.00 with 195 riders participating. Teresa reminds riders if you missed this important event you can still help. If you register for F4F you can elect Ronald McDonald House as your charity of choice.
